We have a planned mating between Shanti and Vadar, this is another repeat of this coupling, which has already produced two wonderful litters of fantastic, healthy dogs, with outgoing and intelligent characters.

About the parents.......

Mum, Shanti is our foundation bitch here at Krisannrio, you will find pictures and information from her early puppyhood onwards on her own page which can be found here :- http://krisannriogsds.webs.com/shantispage.htmand as the song on her page says, she is a lady, she is also an extremely capable German Shepherd and will 'work' quite happily, her favourite type of 'work' is tracking and searching, which she excels at, although her Daughter Laska leaves her standing !!

Laska is a Shanti/Vadar daughter from their first litter, she has shown promise from an early age, she has a high play/work drive and is a joy to watch in action.  She currently goes out regularly with a very old friend of ours, who is a Home Office Accredited Instructor and he sings the praises of Laska in her ability to work, he has confirmed what we always knew, she is brilliant !!

That is the calibre of dog which this coupling produces, they have a high play drive, which can easily be channeled into obedience, which they excel at. They do however come with an 'off' swicth and are quite happy to cuddle up for a snuggle or crash out for a doze if there are no walks or play sessions on offer !!

Shanti took part in a companion show recently and was entered into the 'retrieve a sausage' competition, it was a real sausage and she was the only dog out of a class of 27 who actually retrieved the sausage and dropped it at my feet, she the sat waiting for me to chuck it again, bless her !!

Dad, Vadar Snr. has a lot to be proud of, his children with Shanti have both brains and beauty.  Vadar is from the Rockforce kennel and recently came to Krisannrio for a 2 week holiday, some photos of his stay can be seen below. Vadar is a gorgeous boy with a wonderful temperament, this was seen over and over again during his stay here, he is a true gent. It was during his stay here that they mated and I am happy to say, Shanti is confirmed in whelp and due to have her puppies at the end of August.

Please view the testimonials page and read what other owners of dogs produced from this mating have to say, here :-TESTIMONIALS FROM PUPPY OWNERS

Also please see our own Laska, here :-LASKA'S PAGE Shanti's Daughter from her first coupling with Vadar Snr., also from this litter 'Vadar Jnr' who can be found here :-VADAR

Lastly, Saskie, from the second mating between Vadar Snr. and Shanti can be found on the Galaxybears website, here :-   http://galaxybearsnewfoundlands.piczo.com/?g=39069613&cr=2

These pups will have a high workability factor and so would be perfect for anybody wishing to do obedience, they will also make fine pets for experienced German Shepherd owners.

We expect similar colours to puppies previously produced by this coupling and will be taking bookings for both gold sable and black and gold.

They will be raised in the usual Krisannrio way and will be completely RAW weaned, this method of feeding must be acceptable to any prospective owner = For more information on how we raise our pups, please refer to the RAW weaning litter diary on my raw feeding website, the pups featured in this diary are Shanti's and Vadar Snr's. from her second litter with him and can be found by clicking on this link :-

 http://www.krisannriorawfeeding.com/rawweaninglitterdiary.htm

Shanti's puppies have arrived, it was a straightforward whelp with no complications, we have 7 gorgeous babies, 2 sable males, 4 black and gold males and a black and gold female.  Apologies for those of you waiting for sable females, be patient and watch out for further news !!

The puppies are 3 weeks old now and doing really well, they can make it from one side of the whelping box to the other in suprisingly fast time !! The weaning process will begin in the middle of next week, when they are about 3.5 weeks.

Here is one of the 4 black and gold males, two of them are really dark and I feel that they are boy versions of Saskie, who is an older sister from the last litter, she is 16 months old now, please look here to see how she turned out

                                     shantipups3weeks006.jpg picture by shantismum

Of the black and gold puppies which Shanti has produced, Saskie is the only one who's head stayed black, all the others gave way to gold/red, I think that these two will be the same, if not a little darker than Saskie.  The only tan which is visible at this stage on the head/face are eyebrows, when the head fur is parted it is solid black, unlike the other black and golds, who have breakthrough gold showing already.

Here are a couple more shots of the darker black and golds.

shantipups3weeks008.jpg picture by shantismum

Now for the lighter black and gold males, the red is becomming very apparent on their heads and I feel that both pups, although slightly different, will look very much like Jip/Sabre/ both from Shanti's first litter, you can see the changes that their coats went through and see the final result by clicking on THIS, it takes you to the progress of Shanti's first litter with Vadar, where you can see how these pups are likely to turn out.

For a comparison, here is one of the darker males placed in between the other two. I feel that the puppy on the right will be identical to Jip and the puppy on the left will look very much like Sabre.

Here is the female pup, on the left, next to her brother, as you can see at this stage she is somewhere inbetween a Saskie and a Sabre !!

shantipups3weeks019.jpg picture by shantismum

On her own....

shantipups3weeks035.jpg picture by shantismum

 shantipups3weeks034.jpg picture by shantismum

Now for the sables, both slightly darker than previous sables produced, I have a strong feeling they will turn out to look a lot like Bailey from the first litter and Bonnie from the 2nd litter, seen here as adolescents.

 Image3-2.jpg picture by shantismum

Bonnie

 bonnie.jpg picture by shantismum

Here are the little guys.....aren't they gorgeous !! Shanti and Vadar only managed to produce two sables for us this time, but boy !! what stunning pups (can't you tell I looooove sables !!) If one of these had been female, she would have been staying here !!

shantipups3weeks030.jpg picture by shantismum

Individually....

shantipups3weeks031.jpg picture by shantismum

shantipups3weeks032.jpg picture by shantismum

As you can see, one has a white flash on his chest, this will mature into the banding both Bailey and Bonnie have on the chest.

The puppies are now four weeks old and are growing really well, their coats are getting fluffier and they are all filling out nicely, we have an average weight of 2.2 kilos which I'm very pleased with at this stage.  On Wednesday, we started the weaning process with them and they are really enjoying their new food.

Today, they have been weighed, wormed and put outside into the outdoor arrangement which will give them tons more freedom and reports tell us this goes a long way to helping with the house training.

We still have one remaining male black and gold for sale.

Here are some pictures taken earlier today, the lighting wasn't brilliant and so they are no wonderful, but I am intending on getting some more shots of them later today in their new outside home.

Ladies first and so here is Lexie

shantipups4weeks014.jpg picture by shantismum

shantipups4weeks013.jpg picture by shantismum

The puppies will be 5 weeks old tomorrow and are all doing very well indeed.  They love their new outside home as it gives them lots of safe areas to play and explore, for the first few days outside, they were confined to the indoor sleeping den and indoor run, over the last few days they have been given access to the larger outdoor run attached to their sleeping compartment, this contains plastic tunnels they can play in and they have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thankfully the rain has given us a break and so the pups have played out everyday.

This arrangement enables them to socialise safely with all our other dogs, who regularly greet them at the dividing gate.

I am exrememly pleased with the way the weaning is going, they love their food and plenty of it !!  Don't forget you can follow the daily menu on the raw feeding website.

Please don't forget we are natural feeders and these puppies are raw weaned, this must be acceptable to future puppy owners.

OK, now for the good stuff !!  You will notice a 'Zaskasia' credit on some of the photographs, that's because they weren't taken by us but by Paula of Zakasia GSDs, and very spendid they are too !!!

Hendrix (formerly Wolfy) I am happy to say has now found a great home and will be going to the New Forest to live with the Evans family.

puppy044.jpg picture by shantismum

She is a bold, confident little pup and gives all her Brothers a run for their money, almost identical to Jack, even I have problems telling them apart. Isn't she just gorgeous !!!

What a little angel !!

OK now for the lads. In no particular order, here we go...

This is Benson (formerly Burt !) and he is going to live in Reading with the Larkins

 puppy099.jpg picture by shantismum

Burt is not too keen on having his photo taken, which is a shame because he is a stunner and is going to be the spitting image of 'Sabre' from Shanti's first litter (button to progeny page can be found towards the bottom of the home page)

Burt again.....

The puppies are now 6 weeks and were wormed for the second time yesterday, they now have a average weight of 4.8 kilos.

They can choose whether to be in or out and they are usually always out !!  Chasing leaves round their pen, playing with their toys and then crashing out in the tunnels !!

Over the last week they have really started to manage the boney products they are being fed, they have progressed from chicken mince to proper chicken and are not to pleased if it's served in minced form now, they much prefer munching on backs and wings, we have also been taking the cleaver to whole chickens for them too.

They have a huge love of rabbit, fresh, skinned and roughly chopped with all bones still present, this I would have to say is their favorite meal, so I have been indulging them !!

They love chomping on the bigger bones and are starting to make an impression on any lamb bones I give to them for practice, whilst they love being given beef bones, they are still too tiny to consume much except the meat and sinew surrounding them, but I give them beef anyway just to get them practising.

We opened the gate yesterday and gave them access to a larger area, this is where they had their dinner of fresh rabbit last night, they were torn between exploring and eating and went back to bed very tired, but happy little pups.

The tyres as always are proving a hit with the pups and if you are big enough to get into them, they make a wonderful den !!

Now for the updated pictures, sorry they are not as posh as the Zakasia ones last week !!

In no particular order.........

Hope you enjoyed them.

I apologise if there seem to be more of some pups than others, some seem to be always in the eye of the camera and others you have to work really hard to get decent pics of, trouble is they don't stay still for long now !!  I will try to get more photos of them through this week, before they are ready to leave next week.

Back so soon !! But it's a lovely day today and we haven't had too many of them lately, so I opened the gate and let them all out to play in the front.  I was lucky enough to get some really nice, meaty venison bones from Durham Animal Feeds on their last delivery so I gave the pups some, they loved them and made a very impressive attempt at getting nearly all the meat off them.

Lexie

Here she is joined by Jack on the left, these two are still very alike, but Lexie's head is starting to show a little breakthrough colour, whereas Jack's is still very dark.
